Cisco Network Analyst (Edmonton, AB)

Position Overview

Microserve is looking for a Senior Cisco Network Analyst to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. The Senior Network Analyst provides senior level networking expertise in both an operational and an architectural capacity to Microserve and its customers. The Senior Network Analyst is responsible for interfacing with project stake holders to ensure that project designs meet expectations and are delivered in a timely manner. The Senior Network Analyst is also involved in the break/fix activities of Microserve Managed Services in accepting escalations from the help desk to resolve issues.

Deliverables

As a Senior Network Analyst, you will strive to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Customers will be satisfied by the quality and timeliness of the networking services including the below:
  • Network design and implementation;
  • Routing and switching;
  • Firewall, VPN and other security services;
  • Load balancers, Proxies and other networking appliances;
  • Networking services such as DNS, DHCP;
  • Junior networking resources will benefit from mentoring and guidance.
  • Assigned projects will be completed on time, with the appropriate level of quality, and will contribute the anticipated revenue targets.

Responsibilities

Professional Services

  • Perform presales calls to gather customer requirements for new hardware and services.
  • Create Statements of Work based on customer requirements.
  • Assist with quotes for networking hardware and related services.
  • Initiate regular communication with clients (office visits and phone calls).
  • Respond to feedback proactively ensuring service meets expectations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to address client’s needs and take corrective action to resolve concerns.
  • Manage project schedules and deadlines; determine resource availability and coordinate manpower, materials etc.

Managed Services

  • Maintain technical customer information, and ensure the information is current and accurate.
  • Accept call escalation from the help desk or other managed services resources.
  • Perform general maintenance on networking systems
  • Provide professional services as required

Other duties

  • Attend internal meetings as required.
  • Participate and assist in pre-sales, RFP responses, and SOW creation as required.
  • Oversee/project manage the completion of assigned projects
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior resources
  • Other miscellaneous duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized 4 year university program or a 2 year technical program.
  • Minimum 5 years of networking experience
  • Designation of CCNP or CCIE (CCIE preferred)
  • Multitasking skills to handle many different concurrent tasks.
  • Time and task management to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks, and Microserve meets our commitments.
  • Attention to details to ensure work products are accurate and are high quality.
  • Analytical thinker and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills – know when to ask for help, provide status updates, and escalate issues.

UX/UI Designer (Vancouver or remote)

Our Victoria-based client needs an experienced UX/UI Designer to join their Vancouver office. While the position associated with the Vancouver office, our client welcomes and encourages designers anywhere in Canada to apply for this position. Position Overview

Microserve’s client requires a UI/UX Designer to join its team in Vancouver. This is a contract position (40 hours per week) for 1yr with the ability to work remotely.

The UI / UX Designer will provide design expertise and help guide the delivery of our next generation products. You will work on a variety of projects and your primary focus will be to design fully functional Graphical User Interfaces for multiple platforms and devices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate and deploy cross platform User Interfaces for Company products, services, websites and projects
  • Work closely with the team to implement modern user experiences for our products
  • Research and recommend web and other applications and services as assigned or proactively to continuously improve Company technologies
  • Install, configure and maintain web and other applications and services as required
  • Develop and maintain software installation and configuration procedures
  • Help develop, contribute to and maintain system standards
  • Support and participate in proper protocols for documenting and managing all technology related activities, applications and processes
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Contribute to estimation and scoping of projects
  • Troubleshoot front-end issues for existing applications
  • Suggest improvements in existing code to make a better software experience for our customers
  • Other duties and responsibilities normally associated with the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience designing Graphic User Interfaces
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, related degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Web 2.0
  • Extensive Experience programming experience in Python
  • Some Experience with Django
  • Knowledge of how 3D graphics are rendered
  • Experience with test driven development
  • Passionate about developing great user experiences
  • Experience in Responsive web design
  • Understanding of OOP concepts and design patterns

Preferred Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with a team that will be deploying into a Linux AWS environment
  • Proficient understanding of git source control system, branches and releases
  • Experience with front-end MVC/MVVM JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Ember, Knockout, React, Node
  • Experience developing reusable front-end components for other developers to consume
  • Well versed in popular open source projects
