Project Manager – Intermediate (12 Month Contract)
Location: Remote/ Edmonton, AB

Responsibilities including but not limited to
  •  Collaborate with business area(s) to develop well-defined proposals, project charters and other planning documents.
  • Manage the complexity of working with various project stakeholders.
  • Work with project leads to develop a project organization structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Lead, facilitate and/or attend regularly scheduled steering committee and status meetings throughout the project life cycle.
  • Closely monitor, document and report project status against the plan (objectives, schedules and resources); implement mechanisms, such as change control, to keep the project on track.
  • Develop and monitor project issues and risk logs with project leads.
  • Support implementation planning activities.
  • Develop and implement appropriate change management, communication and training strategies where required.
  • Assess whether the project achieved intended outcomes and integrate project results across the initiative(s).
  • The contractor will provide regular and appropriate project documentation, information management, and utilize the project management processes and tools.
  • Develop and implement a benefits realization process to identify, execute and sustain improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the PMO in the development and improvements of the Portfolio and project management methodology.
 
 
Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Experience managing complex projects and initiatives within the public sector that are NOT related to IT OR Infrastructure projects. 
  • Project Management Experience related to planning, operational policy development, and leading and implementing improvements to service delivery
  • Graduation from a post-secondary institution (Bachelor’s Degree).
  • Must possess one of the following:  
    • (1) Currently active PMP Certification as issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent.
    • (2) A Project Management certificate or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, PLUS at least 3 yrs hands-on experience in Project Management. 
    • (3) Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager working on long-term projects that spanned 1 year or longer, that had significant impact on business process, policy, and delivery
  • Post-secondary education related to social science, humanities, business administration, public administration or related.
  • Business Analysis, Change Management or Management Consulting experience.
  • Experience developing an evaluation model to measure and evaluate projects to ensure project outputs contribute to program and organizations outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem identification and facilitating group problem solving (using process mapping, gap analysis, requirements gathering, etc.) to lead groups to clear decisions.
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills, including preparation of required project status reporting documents, risk-logs, presentations, and change-communications material as required.
