Quality Assurance Analyst – Credit/Insurance (12 month contract)
Location: Remote/Vancouver, BC

The client requires a qualified contractor with the skillset and experience required for an effective Quality Assurance Analyst. At a high level, reporting to the Project Manager, the initiative's scope is to ensure the quality and integrity of the Payout Database & System solution implementation while adopting effective quality assurance practices. The Payout database and module solution will:

• upload the data extracts in the event of a system  failure;
• calculate the amounts for payment;
• programmatically create Payment and statement files to export deposit insurance payment and statement files;
• authenticate, validate and test connections with two mail systems;
• Develop reports, views and analysis with Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services.

The Quality Assurance Analyst will also perform QA activities on operations and other ongoing or new projects.


Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Quality Assurance Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of solution implementations and while adopting effective quality assurance practices with an agile waterfall hybrid approach.

Working collaboratively with the IT team, the Quality Assurance Analyst’s services will specifically include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Reviews Business Requirements/user stories to ensure a full understanding of business expectations
  • Reviews functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of solution or service deliverables
  • Adopts waterfall/agile/hybrid agile methodology to develop end to end Test Strategy, Test Approach and Test Plans for software solutions or new services, from the database to end-user experience
  • Uses Azure DevOps to develop and maintain Test Cases and defects
  • Designs appropriate test cases that include all aspects of solution or service (functionality, data integrity, security, performance, UI, etc.)
  • Designs appropriate User Acceptance tests (UAT) that include all aspects of solution or service
  • Facilitates test plan/cases reviews with cross-functional team members
  • Performs a full range of testing (including but not limited to the backend database, stored procedures, jobs and triggers) as well as end-user experience level testing for UI, messaging, etc.
  • Performs regression testing and troubleshoot errors
  • Experience in defining and developing automated regression testing protocols is an asset
  • Manages and maintains the integrity of test data
  • Performs testing using Business Analytics Tools such as Power BI
  • Manages traceability from test cases to requirements
  • Manages the testing issue log, including those issues reported by others
  • Ensures testing processes can determine whether objectives and requirements have been met
  • Identifies any other potential quality issues per defined process and escalates as required
  • Verifies all changes to ensure effective resolution of reported issues
  • Identifies service quality issues, opportunities and constraints
  • Provides validation and analysis of all reported issues before seeking resolution
  • Support the business/stakeholders to perform the UAT test
  • Includes consideration for integrations with other solutions or services (internal or external)
  • Expands or enhances existing testing documentation, processes and tools
  • Provides expert quality assurance/testing advice
  • Researches and evaluates new software/product test technologies as directed

Experience and Capabilities

  • Appropriate level of technical certification (e.g. Development, QA, BSA, – certified software testing certification preferred)
  • 7+ years of recent relevant testing experience
  • Expertise in database and application testing in Microsoft SQL Server & Cloud environments including but not limited to designing and manipulating test data, data integrity, validating stored procedures, jobs, triggers and replication
  • Experience reading programming languages (preferred VB .Net, C# and Python)
  • Relevant Experience using tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps and Business Analytics Tools such as Power BI
  • Experience successfully developing and applying QA/Testing models and processes
  • Experience working through test planning for data migration components of systems/ applications
  • Experience working effectively with non-technical end- users as relates to testing
  • Experience managing & supporting UAT Test Cases
  • Experience with Automated testing is an asset Capabilities
  • Ability to create clear, concise, detail-oriented test plans and Test cases (including UAT and regression)
  • Ability to effectively manage deadlines and deliverables
  • Very-detail oriented with superior analytical skills
  • Very well organized (able to accurately manage issues and resolutions through their lifecycle)
  • Ability to effectively facilitate QA/Testing related sessions with technical and business staff
  • Ability to work independently and being proactive
